The New York EPP Community of Practice (CoP) brings together faculty from educator preparation programs to learn from invited scholars and explore ways to prepare candidates to support diverse learners using the science of reading. Monthly sessions alternate between expert presentations and implementation-focused sessions, where faculty discuss how to apply new learning in their coursework and field experiences. Topics include supporting multilingual learners, students with language comprehension and word recognition difficulties, and students who use dialects other than standardized English. Meetings take place on the third Friday of each month, from 2:30–4:00 p.m. ET, via Zoom.

2:00 PM - 4:30 PM ET | VIRTUAL SERIES
November 18, 2026 | Data-Based Decisions
January 13, 2027 | Recursive Review
May 19, 2027 | Sustainability
This three-part series helps deans, assistant deans, and faculty turn external review findings and program data into meaningful, collaborative program improvement. Grounded in implementation science and evidence-based strategies, the series explores how EPPs can engage faculty in using evidence to make decisions, strengthen program coherence, address what is not working, and sustain what works. Together, we'll move beyond compliance toward a shared commitment to building stronger programs and better outcomes for candidates and the students they serve.
Please note, this series is only available for The Path Forward Pilot campuses.
